TCU receiver Savion Williams selected by Green Bay Packers in third round of NFL draft

At 6-4, 222 pounds, Williams brings a tantalizing combination of speed and strength to the NFL.

A longtime Horned Frog will now be playing on Sundays.

Former TCU wide receiver Savion Williams has been selected by the Packers in the third of the 2025 NFL draft. Green Bay nabbed Williams with the 87th overall pick.

Williams is the second Horned Frog off the board, with fellow receiver Jack Bech going to the Saints in the second round.

Williams, a Marshall native, spent all five of his collegiate seasons in Fort Worth. He finished his Horned Frogs career with 14 receiving touchdowns, tied for the eighth most in program history.

Last season for TCU, Williams caught 60 passes for 611 yards and six touchdowns. He also became an asset in the run game, adding another 322 yards on the ground with six rushing touchdowns.

At 6-4 and 222 pounds and with a 40-yard dash time of 4.48 at the NFL scouting combine, Williams has a tantalizing combination of strength and speed, but is considered a bit of a developmental project at the NFL level.

“Williams is big, strong and fast but very raw as a route-runner and is unreliable with his hands,” NFL analyst Lance Zierlein wrote in Williams’ NFL draft profile. “His production is uneven as a traditional wideout, but he adds a dynamic kick to the offense as a gadget runner and as a catch-and-run option underneath.”

He’ll have a chance to sharpen his skills while providing a big target for new quarterback Jordan Love. The Packers also went with a receiver in the first round, selecting Longhorns wideout Matthew Golden at No. 23 overall.
