A day after the Stars announced they were moving on from Pete DeBoer, the NHL revealed where the former Dallas coach landed in voting for the 2024-25 Jack Adams Award.
According to the NHL, DeBoer placed 12th (two points) in Jack Adams Award voting for the 2024-25 season. He earned two third-place votes after leading the Stars to a 50-26-6 record in the regular season.
Spencer Carbery of the Washington Capitals won the award this year, earning 464 points. He came away with 81 first-place votes, 19 second-place votes and two third-place votes after leading Washington to a 51-22-9 regular-season mark.
The Jack Adams Award is essentially the NHL’s coach of the year honor. The NHL Broadcasters’ Association gives out the award to “the NHL coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team’s success.”
DeBoer wasn’t the only familiar name to earn votes for this season’s Jack Adams Award. Former Stars coach Jim Montgomery placed fourth in voting with 38 points, claiming two first-place votes, five second-place votes and 13 third-place votes. Montgomery notably led the St. Louis Blues to a 44-30-8 regular-season mark.
After spending three seasons with the Stars, DeBoer’s Dallas tenure ended Friday. He still had one year remaining on his contract.
