The SMU basketball team had a surprise guest on campus Tuesday — and it wasn’t any average Joe.
Actor Vince Vaughn stopped by Moody Coliseum to visit an old friend during head coach Andy Enfield’s youth basketball summer camp.
The two go back to Enfield’s days as USC head coach, his last job before taking over the SMU program. Enfield and Vaughn both lived in Manhattan Beach, near Los Angeles, while Enfield was leading the Trojans.
“You never know who will crash basketball camp,” Enfield captioned a pair of photos he posted on social media.

In Enfield’s first season, also the Mustangs’ first in the ACC, SMU came close to ending what is now an eight-year NCAA Tournament drought. The Mustangs exceeded all expectations and finished tied for fourth in the ACC, despite being picked to finish 13th in the preseason.
SMU competed in the NIT for the fourth time in the last five seasons, losing to Oklahoma State in the second round.
No word on if the “Five D’s of Dodgeball” will become a part of future SMU game plans as Enfield looks to find a higher ceiling for the Mustangs in Year 2.
