Police say a driver crossed into oncoming traffic while racing and struck a pickup Sunday evening.

One person died and at least three others were hospitalized Sunday afternoon after a crash involving suspected street racing in South Dallas, police said.

Dallas police were called at about 7:40 p.m. to the 5000 block of Second Avenue, where officers were requested to help with crowd control, Officer Jennifer Pryor, a police spokesperson, said in a statement Monday.

Officers determined that a pickup heading south on Second Avenue was hit by a northbound vehicle that crossed into the oncoming lane while racing another vehicle, Pryor said.

The pickup’s driver, whose identity was not released in the statement, died at the location, Pryor said.
