The 2025 UIL Tennis state tournament runs May 15-16 in San Antonio. Below you will find Dallas-area players to watch at this year’s championships, as well as a list of all Dallas-area state qualifiers.
Players to watch
Connor Cole, Jesuit
He is 20-0 this season and will be competing at state in 6A boys singles for the second straight year. He didn’t lose a set while winning the 6A Region I tournament this year, and he dropped just nine games in four matches there.
Malcolm Moore, Pinkston
He was the 4A state runner-up in boys singles last season and is at state for the second time. Moore will try to become the first boy from Dallas ISD to win state in tennis since 1929. Anne Gilliam is Dallas ISD’s last state champion in tennis, winning the 5A girls singles title in 2016. Moore is a junior at Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy, and because he attends a DISD specialty school, he is permitted to participate in sports at the high school in his home attendance zone.
Aaditt Rishi/Addison Rosser, Frisco Lebanon Trail
They won the 5A state title in mixed doubles last season and are back at state in 2025. They didn’t lose a set at state last year, and that included a 6-2, 6-3 win in the championship match.

Sara Gyorgy/Emilia Gyorgy, Grapevine
They are the defending 5A state champion in girls doubles. They didn’t lose a set at state last year and dropped only 11 games in three matches.
Ella Wertz, Frisco Wakeland
She won the 5A Region II championship in girls singles this year after finishing as the 5A state runner-up in girls doubles last season. Wertz is on a different half of the singles bracket from Frisco Independence’s Shriya Aviur, who was a 5A state semifinalist in girls singles last year.
Matteo Mejia/Blake Anderson, Prosper Walnut Grove
They have teamed up in boys doubles this year after each of them made it to the semifinals at state in 5A boys singles last season.
