Kierston Russell, a former Duncanville girls basketball player and the twin sister of former Duncanville quarterback Keelon Russell, died on Wednesday at the age of 18, according to a report published by The Bama Standard.

The two recently danced together on stage as graduates of Duncanville (Texas) High School and she followed Keelon to Tuscaloosa.

According to the report, Kierston died in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The twins had recently moved there together and enrolled at the University of Alabama, where Keelon committed to play quarterback in December. Both celebrated their 18th birthdays on Apr. 24.
Keelon, a five-star recruit and The Dallas Morning News’ 2024 Offensive Player of the Year coming out of Duncanville, appeared to confirm the news on Instagram with a reposted message that offered condolences.
The Russells graduated from Duncanville in May.
