H-E-B picks site for new store in North Texas

The grocer is looking westward as it pushes for more locales.

H-E-B is continuing to invest in North Texas with another new location — and it’s in a dynamic part of the region.

H-E-B plans to open a store in the Fort Worth area, according to a statement from Mabrie Jackson, managing director of H-E-B public affairs. It is set to be at the massive Walsh Ranch, which covers thousands of acres and includes commercial development, residential neighborhoods and mixed-use areas.

“H-E-B is excited to announce that construction will begin on our new Walsh Ranch location around the holiday season,” Jackson said in the statement. “We look forward to sharing more details at a groundbreaking event later this fall.”

The San Antonio retailer has been adding its namesake stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since it began its push in Frisco in 2022. The expansion, providing fresh competition for chains such as Kroger and Walmart, now includes several locations.

That includes shoppers in Fort Worth Alliance, where it began welcoming customers in 2024. H-E-B also recently opened its namesake store in Melissa.
